we plan to release the new Daemon Tools V4 next month (October).
No exact date is possible, but at least you now have some "landmark"

Basically a Virtual CD / DVD drive; you can mount ISO images, also Alcohol, Blindwrite images ... it does some copy protection emulation as well.

The current version is free; I think they are going to have a free version but I know there is some discussion about a Pro version on their forums.
