GameTap giving early access to content

Advance Access program grants sneak peek at Turner's games-on-demand service, free month, and discount rate through '06.

GameTap may not launch until later this year, but those with enough gusto and luck can explore the games-on-demand service for PCs. The Advanced Access program, announced today, gives select applicants access to GameTap's library of games before its fall launch.

Those interested in applying for the program can sign up at GameTap's Web site, or grab coupons from select events such as the Download Festival on October 8 in the Bay Area.

In addition to getting a crack at GameTap before the public does, those in the Advanced Access program will also get one free month and a special subscription rate of $9.95 per month through the end of the year. The standard subscription price is $14.95.

GameTap allows PC owners to play a wide range of games, from arcade classics to current console and PC titles. The service will also feature original programming, with shows detailing celebrity gamers, programs demonstrating tips and tricks for GameTap's offered games, and humorous game-related skits featuring Space Ghost.
