Mitnick Online Again

This sent in by ToshiroOC. The world's once most wanted hacker will soon be surfing the internet again.
Quote:
Kevin Mitnick, 39, of Thousand Oaks, California, served five years in federal prison for stealing software and altering data at Motorola, Novell, Nokia, Sun Microsystems and the University of Southern California. Prosecutors accused him of causing tens of millions of dollars in damage to corporate computer networks.

Mitnick was freed in January 2000. The terms of his probation, which expire January 20, require he get government permission before using computers, software, modems or any devices that connect to the Internet. His travel and employment also are limited.
Mitnick just won a long court battle to renew his ham license and can resume surfing the internet next month. The full article can be viewed here.

I saw this guy on TLC one time......his nickname (alias) was Captain Zap...He broke into AT&T via modem and changed their computer clocks so that 12:00 am was really 12:00pm so all the AT&T people got cheap long distance.

Never heard of Captain Zap. I knew about Capt. Crunch though - real old timer, retired from the phreaking nowadays, but with that kind of brilliant mind, who can really say if its over? If only script kiddies never existed,,,

OK, did some searching . . .
Captain Zap = Ian Murphy
Captain Crunch = John Draper

And I think . . .
Kevin Mitnick = Condor

Yeah, Captain Crunch was a phone freaker. Him and Steve Wozniak (creator of Apple) were friends. I saw that on a tv special on TLC.
