FBI to get veto power over PC software?
The Federal Communications Commission thinks you have the right to use software on your computer only if the FBI approves.
No, really. In an obscure "policy" document released around 9 p.m. ET last Friday, the FCC announced this remarkable decision. According to the three-page document, to preserve the openness that characterizes today's Internet, "consumers are entitled to run applications and use services of their choice, subject to the needs of law enforcement." Read the last seven words again. The FCC didn't offer much in the way of clarification. But the clearest reading of the pronouncement is that some unelected bureaucrats at the commission have decreeed that Americans don't have the right to use software such as Skype or PGPfone if it doesn't support mandatory backdoors for wiretapping. (That interpretation was confirmed by an FCC spokesman on Monday, who asked not to be identified by name. Also, the announcement came at the same time as the FCC posted its wiretapping rules for Internet telephony.) ___________ Read More / Source: VOIP Blogs (News.com) |

They're no more intelligant than a 12 year old kid. The more you talk about something 'bad' the more you're likely to do it. Anyone think the Speak to your Kids about Drugs campaign is helping? Here's an update...drug use is higher NOW than it has EVER been in recorded history.
So go ahead and draw more attention to something you want to die down or go away. Let's see what good THAT'll do. F****g politicians. Get them in a room and they can't compose a coherant sentance, let alone know how to run a country or know what's best for us. And don't tell me 'well you voted them in' NO I DIDN'T. I voted for the guy heckling the candidate because HE knew what was going on and didn't have to consult his assistant for an answer. THAT, my friends, is what we need a group of, not this piss poor bunch of sorry sob Republican and Democrats we have now. (speaking in US terms that is) |
