QUAKE 4 Is Gold

October 3, 2005 - Earth's war against the Strogg -- and countless PC gamers' struggle against less-than-cutting edge hardware -- is about to begin again: QUAKE 4 is officially gold. Activision announced today that the latest in the classic FPS franchise is entering manufacturing and will invade PCs on October 18.

Developed by Raven Software, QUAKE 4 uses id Software's DOOM 3 engine to pick up where Quake II left off. As Matthew Kane, an elite member of Rhino Squad, players invade the Strogg stronghold, fighting alone, alongside other Marines, and in mechanized walkers and hover tanks. Along with the single-player campaign, QUAKE 4 includes multiplayer action inspired by the speed and feel of Quake III Arena.

Im sure Monolith is happy about this (they're releasing FEAR on the same day).

no...Quake 4 looks good, but FEAR will consume me for about a week once it comes out...lol

Quake4 looks like a Doom mod. The Fear singleplayer demo was actually extremely enjoyable... I've got a feeling the latter will make for a superior experience.

I'm wondering where all these games were during the summer when I had more time? If PC games only come out in the months leading to christmas christmas I'm giving it up.
