FnF is an unknown quantity at this point

I will visit my garage in the weekend, which contains a lot of old computer material, maybe I find some nice old card

//EDIT:
Whats the oldest card people send in now? Because if there is a lot older card, I don't need to send it
My neighbour has prolly a VGA Wonder XL (Seems like ATi still loves XL )

Well anyone with newer cards than the oldest card doesn't have a chance..

It seems people with the oldest cards will be in a drawing.. Anyone who wants to take the gamble, and doesn't have the oldest card, go to those links I provided and buy the oldest card.

Guys when submitting entries, I just need a simple and clear picture of the card, some people have been sending 10 megabyte+ emails (some with 10 shots of the same card from various angles) accompanied by "life history" style documention.

All I need is a picture of the card, the name of the card and your forum name, simple as that !

Killamajiger is on a distinguished road

I entered my old VGA Wonder (I hope...) in, and hopefully I might get me some video card action. The only thing preventing me from building my dream PC at the moment is the fact that the video card costs about 1/3 of the total price (system is based arround a X2 3800+). I wonder if they go by card model, or revision, because according to google there are arround 5-6 different VGA wonder cards, all with different P/N's (mine are the last ones, OH NO!!!)

BTW First Post! Yay ME!!!

they should have thought about that when they started the contest.....

i think having the oldest card and the receipt for the card or system it came in would make it a most earned win.....

yes this would cut out 99% of people, but at this rate, anyone who can get their hands on the oldest card by any means possible can win..........which makes it very easy

In case the above card doesnt make it,I am negotiating with a guy for his 1985 "Graphics Solution" card. Only bummer he wants $250 for it, since he found out abt this cmpetition. Only good thing he is not looking for the X1800.

unless i am mistaken, these are the oldest ATI cards

VGAWonder series: 18800, 18800-1, 28800-2, 28800-4, 28800-5, 28800-6

http://www.xfree86.org/3.3.6/ati3.html

so i guess anyone that had an 18800 would win, it's an 8 bit ISA card

Well firstly, some of this hardware will be quite possibly 15 years old+, and I doubt more than 2 or 3 people would have a receipt for a card that old. ATI thought this idea would be a fun thing.

As for point 2, if its that easy then get your entry in

Thermite Paste is on a distinguished road

I thought the point of this contest is to see who has been an avid ati user for the longest by seeing who has the card from the furthest back, not to see who has the best ebay skills.

Anyway, i entered my old mach 32.

The way I look at is this:

If you have the oldest card already, you can enter with no risk, so you have a very clear advantage and nothing to lose..

if you want to go hunt down and buy an obsolete card just enter a contest, you are taking a risk that you will lose all your investment, so the people who actually already have one laying around are the people in the best position, probably how it should be.

A very unique competition for sure.

i dont have time to hunt down, buy, and so forth, don't need an x1800xt anyways, i would probably just end up selling it anyhow, let someone that needs it get it

i think it would be fine if only a handful of people had a card with receipt, the idea is to see who has been using ATI the longest or furthest back, not who can get their hands on one, kind of takes the charm out of winning if guy A. who has owned ATI hardware since 1985 has one, and guy B. manages to get one who has never bought a computer period let alone an ATI card, and then guy B. wins.........

Indeed. One way to get rid of the E-Bay problem would to only have the contest run for about 2 weeks only. This would severely limit of time folks have to acquire the card over E-Bay. Just an idea.

I KNEW there was a reason I should have bought an ATI card when I rebuilt my 486 back in the day instead of that Western Digital Paradise Bahamas 64 card... Wait a minute, what did I upgrade from? Hmmm...

I'm sure the winner will likely come from those days...

What a great contest idea! The oldest card will get you the best card on the planet!

Wait, I thought it was:

To enter its simple, email me a picture of the card to zardon@driverheaven.net with it in front of a monitor displaying a Driverheaven webpage.
I think you should disqualify people for not entering properly

P.S - I see the modified original post. Just wanted to clarify and be an ass.
