DH Review: Logitech Force Pro

The PS2 has received a plethora of driving games ranging from the rigorous realism of driving simulators to the fast paced action of high speed arcade races. Regardless of the type of driving game you prefer, sometimes the dual analog stick setup just isn’t enough for gamers looking to go beyond the meager default setup. Luckily, Logitech released the Driving Force Pro to create an unparalleled driving experience, no matter what type of racer you are.

Nice review. A bit of a departure from the usual reviews, which is good. Logitech does make some pretty good stuff, I loved the other wheel I had for my PS2 when GT3 came out.

Strange, I have talked to at least 100 people who own the DFP and have never heard of that shifter bug.. I also have a DFP and that never happens. You may have gotten a slightly defective wheel or one that wasn't put together quite properly.

Anyway, I'd like to add that this wheel is at it's best when connected to the PC when using Logitech's 4.60 drivers designed specifically for this wheel.

You can chose any degree of rotation from 40 to 900- and anywhere in between.

This wheel works great with any PC race sim.. It really comes to life in "true sims" though.

A bran new race sim "rFactor" has profiles already in the game specifically for the DFP set to 360 degrees.. I use 540 degrees for the tin tops and anywhere from 360 to 450 with the open wheelers. The realism is pretty amazing when a game developer gets the force feedback right.

Richard Burns Rally for the PC loves this wheel too.

Right now the DFP is arguably the best FF wheel on the market with it's 900 degree lock-to-lock and real metal bearing..

Soon the BRD Speed7 will take that crown away.. but at a huge cost, something like 700 dollars for one. Ouch.

As you can tell I am a fan of the DFP..

Oh, another thing, if anyone wants to get this wheel... make sure it is a rev.B00 (or later) - you can only see that on the plastic bag the manual comes in, inside the box.

before the Rev B00, the pedals were quirky, and hardly every worked right for any amount of time. They had cheap plastic pots, which for some reason or another, because of a design flaw, self destructed and caused people headaches. The same with the Logitech Momo racing (which I also own). Logitech does not stock individual parts, and replacement pots are a pain to install and are hard to come by from 3rd party retailers. Logitech does however have a 1 year replacement warranty I believe.

The rev. B00 has nice big METAL pots, that in my experience work flawlessly.
Most DFP's being sold now are the rev B00 or later, I got my DFP quite a while ago and I got one.

Rockit181 is on a distinguished road

This thing is sweet!

I was using an old MS sidewinder,
which was pretty good, but not like a DFP
Its up to my pc, i dont have a ps2

But this wheel works excellent for realistic driving games

NOTE: you may have to set your controls for some games using
200 degree mode, then changing the degrees

Also, logitech.com doesn't have a driver specific to the DFP
So just download the version 4.6 of like the MOMO wheel, it will work

Serious PC drivers look no further!

Yeah there is no specific driver really- but the 4.60 driver has code specific to the DFP- they made it completely and totally PC compatible and optimized the resolution and FF for the PC. Now it has the most resolution of any force feedback PC steering wheel.

ZappBrannigan is on a distinguished road

Hi guys,

I've downloaded the Logitech 4.60 drivers to make my DFP work on the PC but it seems to be having problems! When I try and start the profile thing it tells me it can't find the device! I can get access to the properties but when I try and change the feedback effects and the degrees of rotation nothing happens and when I go back to the settings page its all reset again! Could you give me some advice as to what I'm doing wrong!

Cheers Guys!!

Make sure the power is plugged in on the wheel. Sometimes the cord can be plugged in but not make a good connection.
