opera rocks. wasnt expecting a new version so soon after the 8.5 announcement.
i am scared installing this will somehow wreck my other version, so i'll wait for a bit.

So far, I've seen a noticable speed improvement, this version also seems to fix a crash/slowdown problem I was having on my comp at work. Other than that, its the same old Opera for me.

I've had lots of browser crashes since I started using Opera a couple months ago. Hopefully this is fixed in the new version. I'm definitely sticking with Opera though.

Nice, I might have to give this one a try...I'm still at 8.01 since it's been working so well. But if this has a speed increase, then I'm a sucker.

...just bummin 'round
|
Im on 8.5 here, the only annoyance i have run into with Opera happen to me 2 times in the last few weeks, while importing bookmarks from an html file from firefox, i first import them to the bookmarks folder, leaving me with a folder titled Netscape Bookmarks (containg single links and folders of links) in side my Bookmarks Folder, this netscape folder contains all my bookmarks from firefox, next i drag and drop a cpla folders and standalone links onto my personel bar, i also added acpla links while in opera to my bookmarks folder and the personal bar at the same time by clicking the add to persenal bar button while making the bookmark,
Now the prob, ill just open the browser and all the bookmarks on the personel bar are gone along with all the bookmarks from the bookmarks page\folder. thats it, then i have to reimport the file, redrag and drop, and and newer ones are lost, not the end of the world really and spose it could be on my end (the prob), gunna give this 9.0 a shot sumtime, but im not sprintin. |

The opera9 beta does a damn good job at the acid2 test. Only one small bug. I bet they'll pass the whole test by the time it's out of beta.

Hmm.. In Opera 8.5 Ctrl + N opens a new tab, in this 9.0 beta it opens a completely new window. I can't seem to find the setting for it. Any help? I know Zardon is an Opera junkie

That's actually a bug fix. It's an accepted browser standard that ctrl+n opens a brand new fresh window and ctrl+t creates a new tab. Opera 9 now supports this

Also for those of you who dont know about the acid standards compliancy test. its over here http://webstandards.org/act/acid2/test.html this shows just how good the newest opera is, with one tiny little thing to alter before it gives a perfect result. Not only is opera the most standards compliant windows browser but it is the fastest (proven) and also the most secure (proven), and its now also free. A tip to everyone reading this who use firefox, unless you simply must use one of the awesome firefox extensions, give opera a shot, try out the meguido skin, and follow some of the guides in our forums (search for opera), and also experiment with mouse gestures. in a matter of a few days with it, I doubt anyone would go back, total peace of mind regarding security and an interface which really is quite unparalleled in the world of browsers
