In the last few years game companies in Japan have repeatedly been targeted by the Japanese media and government for negatively influencing children. Earlier this week, a meeting was convened that marked the first session of a gathering of top industry players, including Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft, Capcom, Square Enix, Namco, Koei Tsutaya (a Japanese rental and sales chain), Bic Camera (Electronic Superstore), their rival Yodobashi Camera, CESA (Computer Entertainment Software Association), CERO (Computer Entertainment Ratings Organization). They met with representatives from the Tokyo government to discuss the future of games and game ratings.
