Buffalo ships sub-$100 networked media player

Buffalo today announced that its LinkTheater Mini Network Media Player will begin shipping today in Japan.

The product connects to DLNA-compliant products, uses middleware from Mediabolic, and directly supports playback of MPEG2, JPEG, BMP, PNG, MP3, and LPCM encoded content, Media server software installed on a Windows PC provides real-time transcoding of WMV, AVI, GIF, WMA files to a format that can be played back on the LinkTheater Mini.
