Solar charger for cell phones or iPods

Tired of being tethered to a power outlet? Let the sun shine in, says Dutch firm Soldius.

The company out of Apeldoorn, Holland, has developed a consumer-use solar charger for mobile devices such as Apple's iPod, Research In Motion's BlackBerry or cell phones from Nokia, Motorola and others.

The 5-inch by 3-inch device known as Soldius1 converts solar energy into 6.58 volts at a maximum of 320 milliamperes of power after only about three hours in direct sunlight.

Battery life varies depending on the device, but you can keep it hooked up while in use, the company said.

I've had 2 of the iSun that one of the users posted a comment about for over 2 years now. These things come in real handy. They never really sold well, but I can see that changing if they promote it for charging iPods.

I saw a solar charger claiming to be for the Nintendo DS. That could be cool for anyone with a DS.

Solar charging is cheaper than my electric bill.

My brother has rigged up many a solar panel. He charges 12 volt gel cells which run things like battery chargers and power small electronics around the house. Pretty cool.

Yeah, that place has all sorts of stuff for most brands of PDAs / cell phones. First place I look if I buy something that's just come out.

Now tipstaff that is one of the worst things I have ever seen. That is something a genius child would be doin in his spare time instead of making friends only to have his moron older prob steal it and post it on his myspace...

Yeah...it happens.

Also Ira they use that for watches so I wouldn't be surpised when they come out with the backpack. Maybe it can have a built in amp too so I can play guitar when I wander places like an electric hippee.
