I think you might be confusing an internet browser with an email client ...... unless you mean why dont I use operas email client? well for one good reason its crap, just like most of them (yes that includes firefox)....

Is it possible to import mails and stuff to The Bat! from lets say thunderbird?

I'd like to use it, but I am so damned used to OE and all it's oddities and the way you can set up rules (which I have about 120 of and counting)... I think it would take me a year to convert.

If it was freeware I would switch though.

I dont think so, never tried to be honest, I used thunderbird for a week and couldnt believe how crap it was for any kind of power user. I need a really powerful and secure email client I can get and receive anywhere from 100-400 emails a day.
