DirecTV makes profit, but customer adds disappoint

NEW YORK (Reuters) - DirecTV Group Inc., the top U.S. satellite television operator, on Thursday posted a quarterly profit versus a year-earlier loss, but shares slipped on disappointing subscriber growth and customer loss rates.

Shares in DirecTV fell 2 percent after it posted a record rate of dropped customers, weighing on subscriber growth, amid stiff competition from cable operators.

Well I hope they lose money because there customer support sucks. I had Direct TV for like 7 years and then we got a HDTV and we wanted to get HD stations but they would have made us pay around $300 for a box. So we had to drop their crappy service and go with dish network and they gave us a free HD box. Maybe someday if they have a better deal I might go back but until then I don't think they really care about there customer.
