Hunt Valley (Maryland) - An unusually high number of graphics card difficulty complaints registered by customers of the fourth installment of one of the most critically acclaimed PC games in the industry's history, has gamers asking if - perhaps for the first time - the latest entry in the Civilization series was rushed to market too soon.
Released last month to thousands of eager fans, Sid Meier's Civilization IV is a turn-based strategy game developed by Firaxis Games, and named for the legendary game engineer still with the company. Since its release, hundreds have posted to Internet forums stories of blacked-out terrain, memory leaks, and video rendering errors. One contributor to the CivFanatics forum documented, and took a screen shot of, an apparent memory leak registered in Task Manager, showing the Civilization4 executable to have apportioned over 875 Mb of virtual memory for itself...and climbing.
