Micron Technology, Hynix Semiconductor and Renesas Technology were the big winners in the NAND flash memory market in the third quarter, with their sales growth easily exceeding the market average, according to iSuppli.
Worldwide NAND flash revenues rose to US$2.97 billion in the third quarter, up 30.2% from US$2.28 billion in the second quarter.
Micron increased its NAND revenue by 400%, causing its ranking to rise to fifth place, up from seventh in the second quarter. Hynix's NAND revenue rose by 58.9 % during the quarter, causing it to close its market-share gap with Toshiba to 9.6 percentage points in the third quarter, down from 12.4 percentage points in the second quarter. Renesas' NAND-flash sales increased by 46.4% sequentially.
