New Intel logo, CPU designation leaked
DigiTimes has a screenshot of a page from a French-language Web site, X86-secret.com, which appears to show a fresh set of logos and a new brand designation for Intel processors. The picture shows an updated Intel corporate logo, with the "e" no longer dropped, and the swoosh from the "Intel inside" logo wrapped around the corporate name.
Especially interesting is the designation of the successor of the Pentium M processor, which currently is code-named "Yonah." While it has been rumored for quite some time that the processor will receive a new brand name, it is surprising that Intel's marketing whizzes apparently have agreed on the simple name "Core" for the new processor. A "Solo" or "Duo" designation marks single- or dual-core versions of the chip. If X86-secret.com is right, then Intel is gearing up for the most important rebranding campaign in the firm's history - which would explain recently reported concentrations of Intel's global marketing staff in the firm's Santa Clara headquarters. The Web site has been updated since the original post, and the area that had contained the new logos now reads, in French, "My dog ate the pictures." ___________ Source: TG Daily |
