Microsoft ActiveSync 4.1

Microsoft ActiveSync is the latest and significantly improved synchronization software for Microsoft Windows Powered Pocket PCs. It is easy to install and use and offers the best levels of reliability yet. It also brings you up to date with compatibility to Microsoft Office XP and Windows XP. It will automatically detect and configure the port that is used to connect a device to a PC, whether a serial port or an infrared port is chosen. In addition to serial and infrared connections, it supports Ethernet and dial-up connections and supports both wired and wireless implementations of those standards.

Latest Changes:
-New partnership wizard makes syncing easier
-Faster transfer of data files including media
-Ability to sync photos assigned to contacts from Outlook on the desktop
-Supports PC sync via USB cable, Bluetooth, or infrared connection

It's about time a new revision were released.... this new version does appear to work well with my sat nav.

I install ActiveSync on average once a week at work, any improvements a new version brings are most welcome.

Note: This is just a release for Windows Mobile 5; if you have 2003SE or earlier you have to stick with ActiveSync 3.8 (like me!)

First ... OOOPS. Somehow I ended up editing the wrong message. I put it back the way it was so sorry (yes, I have to get used to the new mod functions).

Second ... Get excited again.

I take it back. Microsoft put some weird text on one page that implied it, but on another page they said it was OK.

Toward the bottom it says:

Faster file transfer speed and photo sync via Outlook are only available for Windows Mobile 5.0-based devices. For customers using Windows Mobile 2003 or 2002-based devices, please continue using ActiveSync 3.8

But on the system requirements page it says:

The following mobile device operating systems are supported by ActiveSync 4.1:

Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0
Messaging and Security Feature Pack for Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0
Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition
Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003
