Intel obtains grant for Israel fab

After an apparent delay due to political problems, the Israeli government has approved a $525 million grant for Intel Corp. The chip giant will use the funding to build a new wafer fab in Israel, according to Globes online.
Some time ago, Intel broke ground on the new fab, dubbed Fab 28, which is located in Kiryat Gat. The company will invest $4.4 billion in Fab 28, according to the report.

It will also invest in upgrading its current Fab 18 plant for a total investment of $5.1 billion in Israel. Fab 28 will employ 2,400 people, and an additional 2,000 contract employees.
