DH Review: Logitech G7 Laser Cordless

It’s one thing to build a mouse and keyboard meant for browsing the Internet or sending e-mail back and forth; it’s quite another to build peripherals that can withstand the rigors of competitive PC gaming. At the QuakeCon 2005 show, Logitech unveiled the first of its much-anticipated G-series family of extreme-performance peripherals for PC gamers: the Logitech® G7 Laser Cordless Mouse...

I always liked Logitech mice. I have not tried the new ones but I am happy with the MX518 that I am using

Haha, yes I'm getting quite used to comments about my teddy bears..

Edit:In my next review maybe I'll photoshop in some demons and other evil critters where the teddy bears and bunnies are right now.

Im not impressed with this mouse because its almoast the same as mx700-900 series it just has different color scheme laser engine and batery pack but it lacks all the buttons which the previous mice had. So if you have the two buttons adjusting the dpi you can only use like 4 buttons in games which is by mine opinion to little. I use mx900 for gaming an i can use all the 8 buttons in games so this is a step backward. The real ultimate cordless gaming mouse was i think the mx 1000 which had all the goodies the g7 has and even more buttons then mx700-900. But this is just mine 2cents

I've got the G5 and really like it, I'm sure the G7 is excellent as well. All I would like to see now is a review of an Opteron 165 vs a 3800 x2 dual cores from AMD

I wish they would make a smaller ambidextrous model..

Still using my logitech optical mouse "blue" because of that. I bought an MX518 and returned it because I couldn't use it. I use my fingers to hold mouse, not palm, and these big mice are just damn uncomfortable to me.

Oh well..

Maybe a Razer is in my future.

It's nice that the charging station doesn't need to be powered separately like the MX1000. The lack of buttons keep me from considering an upgrade though.

That teddybear boarder has to be a good chick magnet. Perhaps I'll get me one like that instead.

I too have the mx1000 and must say i love the charging station. Very handy and easy to use. Plus the batteries lasted a long time. Don't relish the idea of having to switch out the packs. Prolly outperforms the mx1000 tho. I now use mx518. Thanks for the review.

Good looking mouse,Great review also....I have the mx1000 and love the performance of this mouse.

The one thing that is a plus point is the spare battery cartridge..This would save a good amount of time in waiting to get hold a of the mx1000 if you forget to recharge the mouse before a long gaming period.

At the same time it's a pity the BT adaptor don't have full BT use.

Well look at it this way..... say you forget to charge the battery on the MX1000 and it runs out during a game. you need to stop using the mouse and charge via the dock. The G7 has a simple swap out battery feature meaning one runs out, replace with the charged battery, and while you are using ... the dead battery is charging.

i think what XXwabbit is concerned about is losing the batteries - which could pose a slight problem

I would love to get a hold of one of these, and rip it apart. I'm damn sure I could mod that laser in to my MX1000.
