Europe prepares for first next-generation launch

The next-generation games consoles become a reality in Europe tonight with the arrival of Microsoft's Xbox 360, which will be rolling out across the continent at midnight accompanied by fifteen game titles.

Many stores around the UK and continental Europe will be opening at midnight to allow customers to pick up their consoles as early as possible - although exactly how many consumers will be able to buy the systems tonight remains unclear.

Microsoft has remained largely silent on shipment volumes for Europe, with the closest thing we have to an official indication of the day one shipment numbers being a comment from Microsoft executive Chris Lewis that an estimate of 300,000 units was "not far removed from reality."

What with all the crashing reports after the US launch, I'm surprised people aren't taking a more wait-and-see attitude in Europe.

I agree with you , i wait for the next next generation of the 360, wich do not crash.
The most crashes occure when playing more then a full hour, it seems a overheating thing
the 360 gets quite hot after a full Hour of playing, and the 360 is very noisy.

I have played on a demonstration 360 but i must say the graphich are awesome,
but i do not purchase a half baked product, and wait till the prices drops too and want to compare the 360 with the PS3, and play and keep the XBox 1, like i kept my amiga 500, btw i play a lot around on my amiga 500 it's still fun.
