Also the tracking improvement over the MX1000 is most noticable and very welcome. Great mouse overall and my fav weight setup is six 1.7g weights down the sides(3 on each side)

the g7 has more than one battery that you can use, so it's not hard to swap batteries, however I prefer a corded mouse still also.

I really don't like the whole DPI buttons either. I just set it to 2000 constant, and changed them to cruise up and cruise down, i missed them from my MX700 .

Mata is on a distinguished road

One major negative point for this mouse is the middle mouse button. it is near impossible to click it fast without tilting the wheel left or right. Unusable in fast paced gaming. And that is no good for a mouse that has few buttons from the start. It is supposed to be a game mouse after all. It shows in the review that the writer is not a hardcore gamer that pushes this mouse to its limits. I believe he would have noticed the problems with the buttons and the need for the firmware upgrade if he was.

It's 'she is not a hardcore gamer'.

Thanks for the comments Mata. However, that is why I do not mention the middle mouse button (I don't think anyone will be using the wheel button for any fast reaction, it was not meant for in-game use, at least not for an action game) and I mentioned the need of more buttons. I haven't met anyone yet using the middle mouse button in any game and with any mouse, because it is next to certain that you will scroll the wheel at the same time. You don't want to switch weapons while throwing a grenade or something, do you?

I saw no problems with the 'firmware' though.

The firmware upgrade is depends on the surface you're using it all. Most surfaces work fine just the Icemats have the tracking problems /w these mice.

Middle buttons are horrible, and useless I have had mine disabled in every mouse i have ever used, including this one.

I just ordered one of these mice from Best Buy for $50.00. I'll be picking it up tomorrow after work (to avoid holiday shoppers). I need a better mouse at work so that is where my MX1000 is going. I have my old Razer Boomerspeed on my work laptop.

So far I love the mouse, though it's weird going back to a wired mouse. However, that is what my mouse bungee is for. The mouse also wouldn't track on my Icemat II until I updated the firmware.

To all the left handed complainers...
I'm left handed too, but I learned to use my right hand for a mouse. It's second nature now. Recommended.

Some old dogs don't want to learn certain new tricks.
