ATI X1800XT Tradeup competition, final stage

Firstly thanks to everyone who has participated in this extremely popular competition. my inbox will never be the same again, with thousands of pictures of old ATI boards now filling it to overflow. Also thanks to the fun entries I had from the hopeful X800XTPE owner to the guy with the hot naked girlfriend who decided to try and get me in trouble with the better half by having her adorn the card across her clevage.

Anyhow... we are now in the final phase of the ATI sponsored competition for the free trade up, and ATI are going to pick a final winner from the Graphics Solution Plus entrants. So if you are one of the lucky people who entered with one of these cards we will be announcing the winner shortly. When the winner is announced ill be sending him or her information on how to claim the card....

Finally I have had requests for a picture gallery of the entries, and ive taken a small selection and presented them to you over here.

Wow, some really old stuff there. And as for the hot girlfriend...any mention of that without pics is against forum rules

This competition really pissed me off because I didn't have a video card old enough to have chance at winning

Thanks DH and ATI. This is the first contest where I won without participating. Thanks to some overzealous DH members, I was able to sell my VGA Wonder and my Rage II for a total of 75 bucks, combined that my X800 Pro Vivo for 240 bucks, I was able to buy a brand new 7800 GT OC from Dell for free. Thanks guys and hope DH will come up with more such contests..

That so owns.

BTW:

"Well according to ATI, the oldest card would have been the ATI Color Emulation Card followed by the ATI Graphics Solution Plus, then the EGA Wonder."

Wait a second. I thought that the Color Emulation Card was before ATI became ATI. From what I remember that card was put out when they were known as Conway, wasn't it?

ok after reading this I emailed Rick in ATI and got this reply.

"The Color Emulation card did carry the ATI brand.

Comway primarily made multifunction cards - memory, serial and printer combinations. Some later cards had video capabilities but they were either straight MDA or CGA solutions.

Putting CGA graphics on Monochrome monitors, which was the primary function of the Color Emulation card, was first product manufactured by ATI."

Cool. Did Rick mention if that was the card primarly sold to Commodore?

And thanks for clearing that up, Z.

That's mainly a product of your age. I feel the same way about things like the pyramids and the Roman empire; not quite old enough to have seen them first hand.
