FrostyTech Tests Mach II GT: Preliminary Results

The ECT Prometeia Mach II GT phase change cooler is a powerful refrigeration based processor cooling system, but just how does it stand up against the mountain of AMD Athlon64 heatsinks FrostyTech has already tested?

It's a question we've been asked many times, but up until now FrostyTech has never sat down with the Mach II GT and tested it on our Mk.II Synthetic Thermal Test platform. Because of the way the Mach II GT mounts from behind to the motherboard, it just wasn't possible to use the existing hardware with the Mk.II platform. So, for the better part of an afternoon a special mounting bracket was drawn up, machined from some nice 25mm-thick Nylon sheet, and put to work. The bracket slides over the top of the Mach II GT evaporator head, and holds it just a bit off-center on the 125W K8 thermal interface die.
