Valve Source Engine Update: Filmic Effects @ PC Perspective
PC Perspective has published a detailed look at some upcoming changes in the Valve Source engine that powers Half-Life 2, Day of Defeat: Source and of course, CounterStirke: Source. We were at the Valve offices in Seattle last week for a demonstration of the new filmic effects they have planned including motion blur, depth of field, color correction and film grains. We have linked to half a dozen videos that show off these new features as well as plenty of screen shots. We also take a detailed look at the performance issues involved in the new effects and why you might need a 600 FPS frame rate to get them running next year!

Maybe try to get the current technology running smoothly on most people's rigs first? I see more stuttering in Source's future.
