Supercomputing, to most people, means astoundingly powerful calculating machines, each requiring a roomful of hardware—and money. That's correct, but not complete. What counts as a supercomputer is a matter of some disagreement, as you'll see, but you'll be surprised by the incredible power you can get in a desktop system that costs little more than a high-end gaming PC.
