DH Review: Crucial Gizmo USB Flash drive (2GIG)

Grace has just finished her latest review.

"Their flash disk drive product line-up is dubbed ‘Gizmo!’ and they already are counting their 3rd revision. The 3rd revision is even faster and much smaller than the initial revision, plus features much higher capacities of course, as you can guess. Crucial was nice enough to send us a Gizmo! 2GB drive, the largest currently offered. 2GB worth of storage inside a device that is about the size of your thumb certainly sounds nice, so let us see what this little device is capable of."

Nice review Grace. I have the 2 gig Corsair version, which is also a nice drive. Hmm I might grab some benchies on it for comparison if you don't mind. I use mine mainly for transporting video files back, and fourth from between home & work. It saves on cds, and I don't have a dvd writer at work. Its really important folks these things be skinny so they can fit any where.

Thanks Necrosis,

I think that's a good idea. I do believe that the Corsair drive would be substantially faster, but that's just a speculation. I am curious myself.

I don't really use flash drives as I always have my laptop with me, oh well...

I use them all the time... Though mine are 64mb and 117mb big... But ya, very helpful! For bigger files I use the iPod or PSP...

PS: Btw, nice review

nice review Grace.

anyone else read that article that told you how to back up your whole os onto a 512mb flash drive?
kinda cool.

I've been using this bad boy:

http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=92576

so cheap, and he sits in my pocket all day without me knowing it's there.
when I handed it to my college tutor he thought it was a joke

I just picked up an external drive enclosure for a spare laptop drive I had lying around, and it is awesome. Only $20, USB powered (no power cord needed for USB 2.0 ports), 40GB, and smaller than a PDA. It's only a 5400 rpm drive, but I'm sure that is plenty to feed USB. . .

Wicked cool!
