ATI’s R580 Versus Nvidia’s G71
ATI thinks that the number of pixel operations per clock is more important than the pixel number itself. Nvidia disagrees. It believes in a totally different ratio. With the birth of the R580, ATI sends the message that you should have three to one ratio as R580 has 48 Shaders and 16 pixel pipelines.
HKEPC.com presented a picture of the ATI’s R580 Radeon X1900XTX and clock details. The card looks very much like the previous R520 based chip, but he R580 die size is noticeably larger than the R520. It comes at very similar clock speeds to X1800XT OC cards which are still not available, except for Asus that already has them ready. _____________ Read More / Source: Softpedia |

I'm confused
wasisn't it G71 is VS X1800XT PE or OC editions , its simply G70 on 90NM with higher clocks???? The "7800 ulta" edition..... Its was correctly G80 vs R580 as they are the two competeing cards due soon unless thats chaged yet again, but then again, the was was that was g71 got canceled. As they are working on G80.... But it appears that was just a cover to hide a large "delay". or what???

Wow the power requirements for the ATI card is insane. I bet that damn thing sounds like a chopper. Needless to say, they will both be very powerful cards.
