CES 2006: Hawking puts ZigBee to work securing the home
Las Vegas (NV) - Hawking has entered the home control / security market with a product line based on ZigBee wireless technology from Freescale Semiconductor.
The Hawking HomeRemote System communicates wirelessly with local sensors and devices installed throughout a home. The system can report whether doors and windows are open or closed, control appliances and lights, and read room temperatures. Status and control are handled via a Web interface. The line is centered around the HRG1 Wireless Home Automation Gateway and the HRH1 Wireless Home Automation Hub. The HRG1 combines the Wireless Home Automation Gateway with an 802.11g router for a total home Internet access package for households without an existing router. In addition to the gateways, the following control elements will be available: HRDS1 - Wireless Door/Window Sensor HRPO1 - Wireless Power Outlet HRPO7 - Wireless 7-Outlet Power Strip HRSE1 - Wireless Signal Extender The HomeRemote System is scheduled to start shipments in Q2 with pricing TDB. The companhy noted that a "Starter Kit" will be available for under $300.
