CES 2006: Motorola announces a really small Bluetooth headset

Las Vegas (NV) - Consumers seem to have a love-hate relationship with Bluetooth headsets. While the headsets free up your hands, the rather large devices don't make much of a fashion statement. At CES 2006, Motorola has announced its H5 MINIBLUE Bluetooth headset, which measures only 33 by 41 millimeters.

Unlike other headsets that wrap around the top of the ear and have the microphone pointing towards your mouth, the MINIBLUE's speaker and microphone will go inside of your ear. The microphone will pick up the talker's speech through vibrations in the ear channel. Such microphone systems are nothing new and have been used by the military and high-end security teams for several years.

Motorola is promising up to 30 foot range from the mobile phone. Users can expect to get up to 1.5 hours of talk time per charge.

Motorola says that the H5 MINIBLUE will be available in the first half of 2006. No specific pricing has been announced.
