Google Zooms In Satellite Map Imagery

Google on Tuesday updated the satellite images in its Google Earth software and Google Local search, adding two more zoom levels that provide a close-up birds-eye view of locations around the world. The change comes after Microsoft's Windows Live Local added similar capabilities.

"Now for many areas around the world you can see a lot more detail than you could before," said Google Earth team member Chikai Ohazama. "Take a look at people standing at the gates of Buckingham Palace in London, or jump over the pond and see the Statue of Liberty in New York."

Google Earth is extremely slow now.. I mean the bandwidth-- not even using half of my bandwidth and it takes forever to refresh.. Haven't noticed that much more resolution either.

Yes I updated.. still, haven't seen the clearer pics.

Maybe if you paid $20 for the Google Plus version it would max out you bandwidth and be faster-- what I'm trying to remind you of is don't bitch about something which is so awesome and free.

Still can't see what Russia is up to, that is of course the first place I looked. I'll contact the Kremlin if I find any of their nukes on GE.

Personally I'm happy - they finally got hi-res images of my local area (I can see my house now!) I still cant see them on the website though, only through the google earth client.
What I would want to see though is the chernobyl site and they still have old lo-res images. Never mind.
