Exclusive Preview: Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2
First off, I want to thank Microsoft for giving us early information on this. I spoke with Gary Schare, Director of IE Product Management, as well as Sarah Williams of the Waggener Edstrom Worldwide Microsoft Windows Client Team. As of right now, you can download the Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Public Preview HERE. I installed the software, and although I will say it’s still buggy (more on that later), it’s definitely a step in the right direction for Microsoft. You can expect a full review later in the week, as I play with this release more. Note: it requires Windows XP SP2 … and 32-bit. There will be a later beta release for 2003 Server as well as a 64-bit version released later.

Silly question but some might be wondering, is it independant from 6.x and/or can it be uninstalled (and with or without complications)

You won't be able to see it in Add / Remove Programs unless you check the Show Updates Checkbox, then you'll see it under Windows XP Software Updates. You can uninstall it from there. As far as using it beside IE6, nope.
I tried the uninstall and it seemed to work but your mileage may vary. |
