From Reactor Critical & Tweakers.net
Reactor Critical Tweakers.net Although Matrox Graphics has announced its Parhelia-512 GPU and also showcased several system powered by videocards based on their latest graphics processor, we still have no information regarding any actual products. Since there is no information about timeframes, speed, prices and board configurations, rumours have started to spread. The latter always affect both reputation of the company as well as desinform potential customers. For example, several sources revealed the information about clocking: they claim that the speed of a typical Parhelia-512 videocard will be about 300 MHz, whereas the others claim that it will be 350 MHz. In fact, it is quite logical that the frequency is not too high: both the board and the graphics processor are very complex, it will be quite hard for Matrox to push the speed upwards. Frankly speaking, it is a bit early to talk about the technical aspects of the product when the timeframes as well as product details are not announced. According to unofficial information, Matrox is planning to start delivering Parhelia-512 based videocards sometimes in mid-August. We can assume that the will launch them officially a couple of weeks earlier. Since they are going to announce the specifications of their new solutions in June, it is quite possible that they will supply a small number of boards in early or mid-July. Keeping in mind that NV30 and R300 are planned to appear in Fall, we can say that Matrox Graphics will be the king in terms of 3D-perfomance for about two month. By the way, remember the 3Dlabs P10. |
