How much better are you thinking the thing is going to get? All they can do is update drivers...and Matrox isn't like ATi with their drivers. This card was simply way over hyped, and unless you're planning on getting it soley for the purpose of the triple display gaming, it's not even worth the 400 bucks it costs. The SiS Xabre 400 card, which is a low budget card gives the same or better performance.

Sure, it was marketed to hell.... bit Nvidia have pulled some performance stunts off with drivers (like, 25-30% increase in a single revision - anyone have figures for the speed increase between v2 and detonator v29 (soz, not a nvidia man so can't remember the numbers)

What else could happen - well, revisions to clock speed, core speed, mem speed would all bring improvements. Whether the card would be marketed the same, or as -II, or a (like the G400), as a "new" model is debateable.

I still want one, purely because Matrox has the best image quality I have ever seen. And Triple Head is of interest!

Really? This new Matrox smokes the competition when using AF and FAA at the same time. Now thats something, seeing as GeForce can only do FAA well and the 8500 can only do AF well - Matrox can do both well.

Quality baby, sheer quality
