Default Post PowerVR Question

Ok, I'm posting here because there is no powervr forum. So i would like to renew my request for one. (lol)

Well the question is ... the latest drivers up on PowerVR.net are 14.028. Hercules has the same drivers up on their website. In addition to this the also have a more recent driver version, apparently created by hercules themselves. (winXP drivers). The driver details say that there was a fix for NTFS.... although i have no idea as to how the file system would affect anything.

My question is.... what the hell is the difference between the two driver versions? Perhaps i missed the explanation but i was hoping that you would enlighten me.

Thank you.

Crash Override is an unknown quantity at this point

Default Post

Why would you even post this in the flame war area? lol

You should post it in the area for general hardware questions

Hercules didn't create the driver themselves - it was an internal PowerVR driver that Hercules decided to release in exactly the same way that Saphire releases 8500 drivers.

I can't remember what causes the problem, but its to do with causing a BSOD in WinXP when doing a full checkdisk on system restart. Not many people neither want nor need to do this or are even aware of the feature, but Hercules decided to release the driver anyway. I think thats the only bug fixed.

Only WinXP was affected - Win2K and Win9x/ME drivers are still the same

Even the nVidiots wouldn't classify the PowerVR range as "general hardware" .... probably more like "general garbage"....... and they'd also be daft enough to try and post in the recycling bin - mwhahahaha

Hmm, thats interesting. But i was convinced it was Hercules doing, because powervr didn't post a copy of the drivers. Oh well.. np... thx for the info.

<Being a FanATIc myself its plainly obvious to me that the nVidiots got the shaft when the names were handed out.... lol there's gotta be another name other than nVidiot that would work better... >

Heck, if they're that dumb to buy nVidia, then they're too dumb to understand sarcasm - so they wont really be insulted

Now, now.... A lot of folks didn't "buy" nvidia cards. They were forced into it by Nvidia's satanic practices of supplying OEMS

We must save our fallen brothers from NVIDIA ... may the see the light!!!

lol
no but seriously... Anyone who buys a GF4TI is ok in my book... some people just have to have performance.

although anyone who bought a gf4MX should be shot for not putting out an extra 25$ and getting a Radeon 85k.

Screw nVidia, I am not buying a GF4, unless an All-in-Wonder GeForce4 Ti4400DV comes out, they are out. Sorry nV, but make a feature card for all us Feature freaks!
