Seems like Matrox is really gonna release the Pahelia. Yesterday they had a demo in China where they showed off the chip. Limited info was leaked since all attendees were under NDA.
The limited information on specs is as follows: 512bit GPU core Production process: 0.15 Micron 80 million transistors Memory Bus: 256bit [x2 to accompany GPU?] Memory Bandwidth: 20GB/s DirectX 9 compliant (Displacement mapping) Up to 256MB DDR RAM Read more here at Warp2Search

It is on russian, but anyways
http://www.ixbt.com/video2/matrox-parhelia512.shtml The antialiasing is supersampling, but it is aplied only on edges of polygons, that is the way i was thinking, would be perfect about 3 months ago, but i dropped these thoughts, because there is lots of edges and it is problematic to do it only on those that are visible, cause there are lots of those that are hidden. I am not lying and i am very happy that there is now awesome antialiasing available. |

Looks like the Parhelia will support Tru-Form (at least in D3D) cool!

I'm having a very hard time imagining me NOT buying this Matrox card if it's all they say it is. 16x jittered FSAA!? 20 Gp/s! Now I just have to come up with enough cash for two more monitors

They also mentioned the way anisotropic filtering works, they said that it works more like nVidia's way than ATi's RIP mapping (adoptive AF), so there will not be a samll performance hit with AF, but they have an awesome AA. It feels so weird, when you see the thing, that you "invented", to appear in a new product 3 months later (Matrox' AA)... My dad said that he had the same thing as i just did 2 times in his life... By the way i am only 14 (i am going to be 15 in june) When i was 5 i wanted to be an architect, when i was 7 i wanted to be a football (soccer) player, when i got 12 i wanted to be an architect again and now i am confused, who the heck i want to be... I might sound a little selfish, but i need to get rid of my emotions. Sorry... |

Hey Russian, found this site today, alot of same people from Rage3d here too, so i assume your Russian on Rage3D aswell.=)
Im a Architect actualy myself oddly enough. Well a Apprentice Architect that graduates in August for my BA in Architectural Enginnering. Im 23, and love architecture, the fascit of design, and the feeling and Art you can show in structures. My favorite work has to be the "Cathedral" in Ulm, Germany, done by Gaudi (sp?). Anyhow, its a very exciting and rewarding business, but takes a long time to build up into a Architect honestly. Alot of ANSI and BOCA standards for your creation need to be applied depending on the state your in. and 90% of the work we do is done on Computers using various CAD systems like AutoCAD and 3dStudioViz. For example, i live in New York, and when i graduate, will work under a Architect for 6 years before I can be considred a Junior Architect. Once a Junior Architect, and pass my test, I then need I think 2-4 more years before I can be a solo liscened Architect and able to start my own business. So Ill be 33 before Actualy a full Blown Architect, and started colege still at 19. Like Lawyers, Architects are required to take the state exam yearly to retain there liscenses, and there liscense is only good for the state they received it from. So if i have a NY state liscense, I cant practice in New Jersey, or delaware, unless as a consultant. Aditionaly, large cities like NewYork City and Los Angeles have there own liscenes need besides the states requirement. This seemingly hard road does have its rewards tho...HUGE rewards... mainly the pay. Currently I get about $40 a hour under contract or CAD work, and thats about max base salary you can get as a wet eared Architect. Minimum I would say is $27-$30. Junior Architect is about $50-$100 a hour,... and If your good, a Liscened Architect in a City easily will make $150-$300 a hour,..NO LIE. We have Gruman Northrop by my residence, its a Huge Aerospace Enginnering Center, they done designs for NASA, and goverment contracts for designs, built such planes as the F-14 Tomcat and the Apollo Space shuttle, and the Engineers and Architects ther pull $150/hour to start easily. If your into it, and willing to wait a bit longer than other careers to get really into it, the pay, and enjoyment of seeing buildings you designed come to life is more enjoyment than 99% of things in life. Knowing everyday, your design is used, and viewed by thousands of people.

Yes, Orrimarrko, I am the same russian from Rage3D and i do love architecture too. Right now i am using ArchiCAD 7.0 (it cost about $5,000, but i bought for $3 in Russia, it is pirated), ArchiCAD is awesome
and I already built my future small residential house. 50 - 100 bucks an hour sounds great for me, that means you can buy 2 GeForce 4s a day.I think, I decided, but what kind of classes should i get at school to become an architect faster. |

If your High School offers Manual Drafting, or basic Engineering classes, those are EXTREMELY helpful. Also might want to AutoCAD or similar if they offer it, and WoodWorking is a Plus too.
