Default Post So who uses them?

Ok, I have two, but I am Matrox to the core. 3D performance is less important than picture quality. Also, as the PC's are by no means bleeding edge, there's no point (but games do seem faster now... ooops, I admit it. I like the odd game).

Who else? What's your thoughts? happy with it?

Loving it over here.
Esp when I upgrade my CPU/memory soon

Seeing as how their core and drivers are totally new(ish now - hehe) I'm just amazed how solid their product is. Provided they can fix one serious IQ bug then I'm staying with Matrox for some time

If I had money for Radeon 9700 or Matrox Parhelia 512, I would definitly go for Parhelia.
But it is too expensive...
No way for now, and knowing Matrox's pricing, never. G550 still costs over $120 in Croatia, what is too much.

Thanks... Really?

@Zardon...

This is nothing compared to you - I would put an image into it, but it is forbidden, isn't it?

Yeah - we don't allow images in .sigs anywhere.

However, moderators are allowed larger avatars whilst the admins get to do whatever they please.

Yeah, I can understand that. Why is there ten lines limit in sigs?

So signatures don't take up the entire screen.
After all, I want to read peoples messages and not the signature which I've probably already read anyway

I'd really like to see the Parhelia do well as it is a good card and I think it is really unfair to compare it to the likes of the ATI Radeon 9700 as it is primarily a gaming card unlike the Parhelia One thing really bugs me though and that is the Anisotropic Filter only works to 2x when the hardware can handle 8x. I hope they fix that with new dirver releases Oh and I also hope that they fix the problem with quake 2 games like Half etc as games like CS are quite popular. I believe this card is ideal for any user even the gamer. You only have to look at the G400 and how long that has lasted. I think the Parhelia is here to stay.

Andy.

If you remember, when G400 MAX came out it put Riva TNT2 Ultra down by both quality and preformerance.
Maybe Parhelia can have same story in some kind of re-realease with high quality drivers.
And then
UraniumXP tweaked drivers by Cyborg.

IIRC, the GeForce 256 SDR was already on the market then the G400 Max came out - which was a faster card. The Voodoo's were also faster than the G400.

Not in Croatia... impression of Matrox G400 overpreformed all Voodoos.

Nooo... G400 was first. I was viewing the marketing pictures (remember the tree...?) on a G400Max at home. had just recommended all the designers at a company I was consulting for, upgraded from the current dual monitor solution to G200MMS and G400Max cards. They never looked back, and I was given a couple by way of thanks by the client (in addition to the fee!)

That's what I thought, but UberLord made me doubt it.
I remember 2 whole pages of review of G400 MAX in one magazine, with box in the middle...
I was sooo impressed.

The G400 definately came out before the geforce as when they reviewed it in Uk Pc mags such as PC zone they compared it against the TNT 2 and Ultra editions As I remember it did quite well in the reviews as it was the best card when it was released and they were questioning whether the geforce would take the crown when it was released

Remember it too. And image of prototype GeForce 256 boards with 32MB of RAM seen - "this is going to change the world of graphics forever" - blah blah and some NVIDIA demos (avi).

So who uses them?

I love my Parhelia, but some screensavers freeze. Not such a big deal I suppose. I really wish that you could use a digital connection for all 3 monitors though....
