Hi. Sorry if this is in the wrong place.. I was wondering if there are any available tweaks for the intel extreme graphics 2 for mobile- on my lap top. I just started playing COD2 & am in love with the game.. unfortunately- I can't play it on this lap top.
I have the most updated intel drivers but was wondering if there is anything out there that will allow me to tweak the graphics so that I can play it on here. The intel website said that COD2 is not supported.... I was hoping that someone here knows of a solution/tweak/driver (if any) to this problem or where I should look. Thanks!! love FG! |

well, even owners with x800's can hardly play the game due to its demanding shaders and such. Im afriad with the maximum amount of tweaking that the intel "extreme" graphics 2 onboard graphics card would not cut it in a million ages. You could perhaps run COD2 in dx7.
Thats about all i can think of. |

ok.. thanks 4 the quick response.
i read that the extreme 2 can run cod & coduo & seems like every other game BUT cod2- lol ... oh well.. the game installed fine- but when i tried to play it- i get the fatal error & a msg w/ a bunch of stuff basically saying -this graphic card sux. perhaps someone out there can magically fix this with a tweak/driver- but until then, i'll keep hoping. thx again. love FG! |

http://www.realtech-vr.com/directx/ http://sourceforge.net/projects/dxglwrap - if the OpenGL capabilities, or the openGL software emulation of missing hardware features is more complete, then it might be possible to run under a D3D to openGL wrapper - but I wouldn't hold my breath! |

Well, all the drivers work, essential. The problem in your situation is you want to play a very demanding game, with a very old card, incapable of the needed requirements to play the game well.

Well if you could play it you probably would not want to because it would look horrible. The Intel graphics aren't really made for games like that because my fiance has one in the computer I got for her and its pretty much just for internet use. Upgrading a graphics card for a laptop is almost impossible anyway because you cannot find the cards anywhere because I do not believe they are sold seperately. And also I noticed on my Fiance's computer that there isn't even a slot for a graphics card on there.
My bro has an Alienware and he can't even upgrade his Graphix by sending it to them, they can only replace what he had before. So I'd say if you wanted a Laptop for Gaming try a Dell. That is of course if you can afford it. |

You might actually be better off building your own, costs less, and you also know exactly what is going into it.

I'm unconvinced by SLI and crossfire - one 7800 is a pretty powerful card, not sure I'd bother putting two of them with the base processor, so the price is on the high side, I'd cut the graphics to just one card - with the SLI capability "in reserve".
A single 7800GTX 512MB is the same price as the pair of GT 256MB, and I think tht's the one case here I would choose the SLI pair of GT's instead. Though I'd probably go for a single GT 256MB, or maybe step the single card performance up slightly to the GTX 256 MB |
