HELP?? Memory to get the MAX out of a Intel P4...Rimm or dual pc3500??? Someone?
Well let's see, I was thinkin' about buying a P4 2.4 or higher...and of course I want to OC it to the MAX, so I was wondering should I take Rimm memory or should I take a dual solution....like dual 333, dual 400 or even higher like the Corsair pc3500 memory. I was just thinkin' about the problems with ddr400 memory and P4's (because they need a lot of bandwith and even more when you OC it...
So there are many solutions, but one of them satisfies the need of bandwith of the P4 the most...now wich one.. When OC'ing a P4 the FSB is of course going up and with it the need of bandwith and so the mem has to supply enough, oc'ing ddr333 to about 400 doens't seem to work (let's say it is sufficient) but one step higher might be to much for the ddr module.... So from my point of view I'm stuck with some problems.... Might somebody clear this up, en help me finding the best solution to provide an OC'ed p4 the max memory bandwith it could possible need...... Well guys, anyone who thinks he knows to get me the MAX out of a P4??? I'll be waiting

Right now P4 motherboards only support PC2100 dual-channel DDR RAM. If you want it now and can afford it get PC4200 RD RAM, but I'd wait for the new P4 boards that can support PC3200 dual-channel DDR RAM come-out.

P4's are and mostly have been at their best when mated with Rambus. Some of the newer chipsets have seriously closed the gap, but I still don't think any have surpassed the bandwidth of PC1066 Rambus.

You posted this twice, which is unecessary.
However, Desert_Siege did reply to you in the other thread (which is now closed), so I'll paste what he said:Quote:

Rambus is still the best for the P4, though a highly overclocked Granite bay solution might come close.
