overclocking with asus k8v se deluxe?

Hi the rig I built for myself a couple years back is based on the Asus k8v se deluxe mobo. At the time I wasn't too concerned about overclocking. I've since wanted to start learning how to overclock and try to overclock my components. Reading around I've learned that these mobos don't have pci/agp locks, and as such overclocking can be very difficult?

Is it still possible to overclock on this board or do I need to get a new board perhaps based on the nforce3 250 (I was looking at the Asus K8N-E as a replacement) that has the locks? Thanks.

You won't be able to overclock very far at all if you have no working locks, it all depends on how the rest of your components reacts to higher pci/agp clock. Some HDD's and graphic cards are very sensitve to raised bus clocks...

Well, that psu may very well be sufficient for basic overclocking. But if you're intending to hit higher clocks and remain stable a more potent psu is recommended. Antec makes great psu's and their new NeoHE series are a great choice, other brands that comes to mind are OCZ, Enermax, Hiper etc. Make sure you get a psu with some decent amperage especially on the 12v rail if you decide to upgrade it. And getting a better HSF is also highly recommended if you're overclocking. Feel free to check out our review section for tips on both cooling and PSU's.

You might need a new PSU anyway. 360W may not cut it.
