video card won't OC

I have a Leadtek GeForce4 Ti4200 128Mb, default clock speeds are 250/450. I can't seem to get them higher than 275/475 without 3DMark locking-up.

So, my question is - why won't it OC?

Sorry man, but sometimes no matter what you throw at it, some chips just can't overclock well no matter what - on bad chips, you could probably throw LN2 and +30% volts and all and barely get anything out of em Chances are that's whats happening to you (like what happened to DriveEuro).. but there is a chance that there is something other than a bad chip that is holding you back. What is the cooling like on your system/card? Have you volt-modded the card (yet? )?

Stock cooling w/ no volt-mod. System cooling is in sig.

Hmmmm.... HMMMMMMmmmmm...... what sort of errors do you get when its overclocked too much? A simple crash? Texture errors? Modeling errors?

Hmmm, get a slot exhaust fan. I can't get my GPU core over 285 in 3Dmark2001 and 280 in 2k3 (too intensive, gets too damn hot). Also the ram, as you know, is much slower than the Ti4200 64mb RAM. So don't expect too fast on the RAM. Looks like you are due for a volt mod on the vid card?

At 300/400 3DMark won't run all the tests. Anything higher than 300/400 I get glitches in textures.

Dude, that's pretty high for the GPU.... pull it back a little.

I tried it at 275/550 (4400 speeds) and I get lock-ups and texture glitches on my desktop and in games.

Send the card back? Dude, I don't know...... Did you ever feel the ramsinks or the GPU sink to see if it was hot while under stress?

The heatsinks never feel that hot, even after gaming for hours.

I don't know if I want to RMA it, 'cuz I have no other video card and I would be w/o my PC for atleast a week. I'm going to look into it though.
