cpu temp and mb temp

I have an AMD Athlon XP 2100+ cpu and was wonder what is the average cpu temp at sustained operating usage?
I know that AMDs run a little higher than Intels.

Do you know where I can find the any info?

Thanks

it's dependant on your cpu cooler and the airflow in you case... What temps are you getting?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that those temps are far and not celcius..
If that's the case, then those temps are quite fine.

but if those ARE temperatures in celcius..
then those are much too high, in my standards.

my temps right now are:

CPU: 40c
SYS: 28c

yes...if you are getting 73 celsius... ****... you need to get like 10 new fans and a heatsink/fan that blows 50 CFM. to the people on this forum 50 celsius is high. but if it is in fahrenheit then i am very very jealous of your temps

I really doubt that those temps are F, since that would be 23C and that is simply impossible with a stock cooler. You should really look into some fans as 73C is very high and will kill the cpu before it's time

If you can't afford any extra cooling or case modifications,
i suggest that you leave the sidepanel off for now to help keep
hot air out and fresh air to the cpu.

I have the boxed cpu & fan from AMD. What replacement fan would you recommend? I have viewed the AMD site and they recommend several.

Well, to keep things quiet I recommend a monster heatsink so you can run a slow 2500rpm fan and still have it cool better than crappy heatsink with a screamin 5000rpm fan. I run an SLK800 with an 80mm case fan that runs at 2500rpm and still cools my highly OCed cpu extremely well. Check it out here http://www.thermalright.com/slk800.html It's like $35 at www.newegg.com but if that is too much $$, the SLK700 is not that much behind the 800 for a much better price. They are the best money can buy.

slk800 looks sounds good I though but what I plan to use won't work on it..
(I going to go with mcx462+ and a 120mm fan (with 80mm adapter) 60 cfm at only 32 db but its gonna cost a good $80) I would go with kakarot's sugestion.............. oh and don't forget the artic silver 3!

i'm scared of those slk's..
they're huge but only use the socket-clips instead of mounting holes..

i'm partial to alpha for some odd reason.

i plan to upgrade, but not anytime soon since i have no cash.
was thinking of the pal8045. =)

case fans will drop his temperature, but it's still
much to high.. but it would be good to get some air-flow first
before upgrading hsf.. it is cheaper and will help, especially
when he upgrades his hsf..

By adding a couple of case fans near the cpu/heatsink I was able to get the temps down to cpu 50C and MB 35C. Do I still need to get a new heat sink or those acceptable temps for an AMD XP 2100+ .18 micron?

If those are under load, then yes, it's good. 50C is the max you really wanna let a cpu reach
