How to convert my X1 to twin-DVI 9700?

I've got a true Fire GL X1, and am wanting to convert it to a twin-DVI 9700 Pro. I've succesfully flashed the bios to a standard 9700 Pro and back, but when in 9700 mode, my 2nd DVI port doesn't put out.

Anyone have any ideas how to make a twin-DVI 9700 bios file?

Try leaving the BIOS as a normal FireGL BIOS, and modifing the CAT drivers to run on the FireGL.

Big Grin

After some playing around, I did finally figure out how to get DX9 working on a FireGL card.

I understand from Omega that it's impossible to get Cat drivers to work on a GL card (sigh).

1) Install Firel GL drivers: 1028 (from ATI website).

2) Replace "ati3duag.dll" in SYSTEM32 with the one from Catalyst 3.0a (from ATI website). DO NOT use Cat 3.1 version - ATI 'fixed' it to not run on a Fire GL card - causes blue screen at boot.

3) Optional: can install Control Panel from either Cat 3.0 or 3.1.

Ran 3DMark2003 - all options work! Got a 4983. Not bad for a card optimized for GL instead of of DX/gaming!

I don't know what the downside is yet. I'm sure ATI had a good reason for keeping a DX8 version of the file released with their latest GL drivers.

Good luck!
