Ah now that depends on the baker

AMD and Intel have gotten alot better at it. The original K7's had to go through a few batches to get good. The Palomino Athlon XP's never did get all that good, Thoroughbred went through A and B revisions, B got pretty decent at the end. Barton's all became the same by the 2nd or so revision... all more or less able to get to 2600 or so Mhz on a DFI NF2 mobo kind of thing.

Intel same deal, I think B2 is probably as good as it will get, or it may improve very slightly... but even still it looks like this B0 is pretty good

If you want a general rule, wait until 2 months after the launch to get a good or better revision of the proc... and buy from a place that ships alot of volume like NewEgg so you're not buying a stocked older rev. chip

Most times I do business through newegg or zipzoomfly but this time I ordered from Tiger Direct.I have never read anything bad about them.Zipzoomfly beats newegg's prices 7 out of 10 times. And i'm not talking about $5 bux.And most times has free 2nd day shipping unless the item is HOT.

PangingJr is just really nicePangingJr is just really nicePangingJr is just really nicePangingJr is just really nice

i've seen some have said the conroe ES processors can overclock better,
but some are saying that the retail ones can do it better. i begin to like reading and learning this overclock stuff...

here is an overclock attempt (not mine) of a boxed retail (not an ES processor) Allendale E6300 @ 3.5ghz(500x7)
from a 1.86GHz to a 3.5GHz stable... (well that's what the owner said anyway)
if you're interested, read more info - http://forums.hardwarezone.com/showthread.php?t=1359631
