P/C dosent start up on first try ?
I didnt know if this is the right post or not but :
After turning off the P/C > it dosent start up again after shutdown It will reboot if I choose restart but if i shut it off it wont start up again unless I unplug or switch off and on the switch in the back there sometimes a few tries are needed to make this happen 10 or more till it starts up the light is on on the motherboard and when the on button is pressed the fan spins for half a second and stops till i unplug the powere or switch off the power supply switch then one time it will spinup and boot its a new case new motherboard and works fine otherwise do i have the front panel wired up wrong ? or power saving settings wrong in windows xp ? I dont have very many devices hooked up to the power supply cd-r a: drive hdd. thats about it tho any ideas on whats going on hope u can help |

Cold start issue, can you let us know what your sysem specs are, that would help us narrow it down...but my first guess is power supply or connectors

Your AC line voltage could be majorly bad or something on that side of it could be messed.
Sure the plug is grounded OK? |

Yep definately check all your power headers are properly connected, and check for a BIOS update to the mainboard as they can sometimes fix a cold boot issue

once it's running it IS stable right? doesn't reboot at random? that would be very bad news to be in the middle of a bios flash and have pc shut down. >

I've seen plenty of motherboards with that issue. It is usually caused by an installed PCI or AGP card. If you have PCI cards, try removing them one by one to check out if one of them creates the problem.

I have 2 sound blaster audio cards installed running on the kx project drivers
the p/c is stable when running just gives trouble when cold booting sometimes it turns right on other times 10 tries or more with the power switch on the back I checked all the connections from the front pannel reset button start HDD led and they apear to be correct i was hoping not to have to flash the bios as i hear alot of bad things about it going wrong there is a newer version available for my K8VGA-M another thing seems to be screwy through windows a DOS prompt typing a simple command like DIR then when i try to close it i get an error message "end program" any ideas I have removed the soundcards one at a time and still the same problem altho it only took two tries to startup this time if I could id leave it running all the time but i record live music and travel with this pc often i guess ill try flashing the bios yikes !
