Watercooler for my 7950gx2
well I bit the bullet and bought a thermaltake tide water plus to see if it can fit on my gx2 and here is a pic of it. please forgive the crappy camera and all the wires all over the place.
here are the temps, before it was idling at 54c and full load at about 74c. now it idles at 36c and full load at 46c max. Also the electric tape is a temporary support till i get paid lol |

PSU power and the price ranges from $89-$130 online. its a very tight fit but it does the trick.

It comes with 16 heatsinks but you will need 1 ram sink to use on the pcie bridge thingy, i got an 80mm fan blowing over the cards at the moment, seems to be working fine.

BTW did you volt mod your 7900? i can pump 1.8ghz out of my gx2's memory but at 606mhz core it artifacts like a bastard I think because of lack of voltage.

thx again for info. think i am going to look int othis when my 7950gx2 comes.
no i did not. 7900gtx has faster/better binned gpu than 7900/7950.

i thought they clocked dual core cpu's/gpu's lower so that the thermal dissipation needs would be lower seeing that there are two cores to cool as opposed to one. (shrug)

that may be part of the reason but the main one is different part/binning. the 7950 sloser t othe 790gt than the gtx. dont know if it is actually a different part, but it definetly a different binning.

Have you guys taken a look at Aquas AquagraFX? Very cool waterblock that cools not only both GPUs at once, but the memory as well.. in parallel. 'Course, it does require the rest of of the parts unlike Thermaltakes all-in-one solution.
Last time I checked the esimated street price was supposed to be around 125 Euro, however I've yet to see one in North America yet. |

yeah i had been waiting and waiting for a better priced waterblock. to be honest, this was only going to be temporary but idk man it works pretty good.

i had thermaltake water cooling system in my pentium.. l let me describe it a little:
quality: crap the pipes get rust and the hoses get residue, very very cheap material in them the pump burned 3 times, rma 3 times until the store refused to replace, then i striped all thermaltake rubis system off and replaced with pro systems, little more expensive but dose the job i think you throwed money out of window, as youll not see major imptovements over ir cooling wit it
