I think I'm quite lucky actually. Hehe . I was looking for a cheap bundle, and I got this 1700+ at $6 (It's a bundle. I had to buy a casing + a motherboard). I didn't even plan on O/C it or anything. I just happened to play around with the FSB for a bit, and it just worked. Haha =]. By the way, I'm from Singapore . thanks for all the help =].

By the way, I'm running my 512MB DDR333 ram at DDR400, timings set at 5-3-2-2. Will it overheat or something..? Sorry if I sound like an idiot.

$6! wow, I'll buy it from you for $12! Double your money! J/K- think (hope) it was a typo--

166mhz fsb = faster for sure-

Memory won't overheat, but if you get crashes, you may want to slow it down.

You did get lucky on that one I'd say. If you got a TbredB and didn't even try to- good job.

Lol, yep $6. And it's in Singapore dollars... So I think it's around $4+ in US. Hehe =]. Anyway, I managed to make my RAM run at 4-3-2-2 at DDR 400! =] Hmm... Any idea why I can't get my system to run at 200FSB?

DriveEuro: Thanks for the cooling suggestion =].

Yea I'm not kidding... I bought the CPU together with the motherboard and casing. =] The motherboard cost around $200, and the casing around $73. (In Singapore dollars). =] Then I got the CPU at $6. It's a bundle. =]

To tell you the truth, I am not totally sure on that one. I would prabably go w/ the newer Volcano 9 between the 2. But if I could start new and get one now that I've seen some reviews, I would go with the Thermalright SLK- 800 or 900 and choose my own fan (they don't come with fans attached I don't think)- It's all copper and tests show it is the best or ONE of the best.

If it will fit on your board, go all out and do it right.

I also bought my board/CPU as a bundle last year and could have gotton a Volcano 7 at the time, but decided to go w/ a completely copper unit that the site was selling and it has an aluminum 70mm fan. I am quite happy with it, but the Thermalrights are much better I am sure.

The most important thing to do is get some Arctic silver 3 for that cpu.

See the one I got- not too bad, does a good job, but you should start out w/ the best.

The SLK800 costs over a hundred dollars here.. =[. On the other hand, Volcano 7+ and 9 both cost around 40 to 50 dollars each...

By the way, I checked the Thermalright website. SLK 800 and 900 come with fans attached =]. 4800RPM fan for 800 @ 55dBA, and 5700RPM fan for 900 @ 52.5dBA. =\

I also checked thermaltake's website... And I think the V7+ is completely copper.. Is it?

No, the Thermalright's don't come with fans. They just suggest that you use the UTTERLY loud Delta fans.

V7 comes with a fan. The base is completely copper. The fan is loud though. I suggest the V9, cuz the fan speed is variable on the V9. V9 is cheaper. The V9 is not that great of a heatsink but it'll work for moderate and mediocre overclocks.
