Last weekend's overclocking escapades - C2 X6800
Well... it was quite cold here over the weekend (~10C ambient temp), I had a new cooler and I had taken the bits out of my old case to put in my new case - so I thought what the heck - trying some overclocking
![]() Updated to a lapped Tuniq Tower with AS5, had 3 noctua fans running accross/through the tower + a nice 30cm desk fan directing air straight from the open window onto the components. So... bit of messing around... 3.8GHz easy at 1.55V, Then up to 3.9 GHz with a small bump up to 1.5625V That's where the jump occured, took 1.75V to break the 4GHz barrier, but managed to get 4.1GHz!!! Which in this configuration ran @ 45C idle and shot up to 60C after a single run of Super Pi, wouldn't like to see the temps it would get up to with extensive load!!! Booted into windows & ran super pi (12.6s) but a few seconds after it had finished, hard reboot. So throttled back to 3.9GHz @ 1.5625V, ran nice and stable ![]() at 3.9GHz, I managed a nice score of 12.8XXs Super Pi ![]() Did at bench at these speeds in 3d mark 01 with a single 8800gtx: 64639 - http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=9123637 Which was a very nice bump from my previous max stable OC of 3.750GHz: 62200 - http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=9128528 Good couple of benches ![]() Right now it's all in my new Silverstone TJ09, running at 3.75GHz @ 1.4625V, idling at 39-41C Idle (haven't measured load temps properly, but have never seen it breach 60C after hours of gaming). Setup looked like this: ![]() ![]() ![]() And not to mention: ![]() (thx to Zaim for resize) Good day

nice OC bro, even better scores. I have an off topic question. With the dual monitors like that did you need and adaptor like the matrox one or is it running straight out of the card? I've been thinking of picking up a second widescreen is the only reason i ask.

While I was doing this & had a single card setup, both monitors ran off one card. Now because these are two 3007WFPs, both ports had to be Dual-DVI, only a few cards have two dual-dvi ports. When I'm running SLI, I can't power two monitors. That should change in the future when something comes out for this third PCI-Ex slot i've got on the motherboard. The matrox thingies will only work off of a VGA/D-SUB port I believe and only connect to a monitor with a d-sub connection, and the 3007s don't support d-sub, dual dvi is the only connection method. |

![]() When my XXX editions arrive (one's coming Monday), I'll go back up to 3.9GHz and bump my scores up a plenty ![]() My new Crucial ram (10th anniversary), so far I've got it to 3-3-3-12 1T @ 425 (850) @ 2.3V, it's warrantied up to 2.4V, so I'm going to use that as my cap. I've only played with the ram for 5 minutes so far, have more of a play this weekend - see what I can get out of it, I've seen some amazing clocks/timings from this stuff on the OCuk forum. |

Damn slick there tasty.
You SHOULD be able to retain excellent frame rates while maintaining dual widescreen support by setting the cards to span both horizontally (i'd suspect that's obvious as your already doing that with 3dmark) but have you tried running anything @ 5120x1600 yet? My gaud 8mil Pixel of pure pleasure. If the 8800 will keep the frame rate above 30fps ![]() I know running my x1900xtx, i couldn't get the sucker to properly initialize any 3D app running anything more then 2560x1600. Just wouldn't do it. Perhaps with the R600, it won't be an issue.

odd.... very very odd..
In the nvidia Control panel, thier should be a option to "span horizontally" across both displays to get the entire screen to be recognized as either a single display (abite HUGE). and allow games to run fullscreen across both. (you could possibly manage this by manually modifieing some of the games config files, namely Unreal Tournament lineup are quite easy by opening for example, the UT2004.ini file in the system folder and then scrolling down the the FULLVIEWXVIEWY resolutions (typically the = sign is followed by values you'd see for normal desktop resolutions) manually changing these to 2560x1600 is required for our dells in this game, but other formats that UT2004 just refuses to allow us to select ingame, have to be manually punched in (i'd even suggest an FOV of 95 or 100 if you can find the option for that somewhere as well) Reguardless, if you can get the nvidia control panel to configure the displays to be seen as a single display, then manually set a resolution that matches that of the 2 displays to ratio, such as ut2004, and setting 5120x1600, you should be able to get the full high detail and even PRINTSCREEN the sucker. Would be steller to see a 5120x1600 screenshot of UT2004, with full high quality settings maxed in every aspect just to see how it looks, not to mention other games that you could get to launch and work correctly. (plus you'd see where your 8800 would be the bottleneck easily )
