Laptop Mod...
Hmmm, I have decided I want my old ugly grey Latitude D400 from Dell to get a new life via a couple of mods...
Well in general, my idea is the following: Paint all in Black (basecoat) Red Gears of War logo (like my sig, cept without the blood) Maybe Red LEDs from the air ventilation (if I can figure out how) Anyways, I was wondering if anyone else had EASY nice ideas? I dunno, I'm gonna take my time with this...

Well I guess I'll make a worklog of some sort here as I go through this...
I was wondering, any of you know a good way to paint a plastic? I mean, do I need a clear coat? Or primer or anything? |

yep, you'll need to undercoat/prime it before you paint otherwise it might just chip and peel off.

Heh laptop mods that made me chuckle. When photobucket comes back up I'll post 'Rug-mod'. My laptop laid out all over all over a rug but still running, can't see it catching on unless you own a magic carpet. My actual plans are to fit it into a PS2 case with the screen flat on top. As to why, well it's a long story and i'd rather not go into it LOL.

B: *flips laptop up* B: "2x 512mb so 1gb" yeah i know you coulda just used windows but you get the idea lol, how many laptops have you seen with a SEE THROUGH PANEL? though lol, i haven't seen any |

Ahh the old laptop on a rug
![]() Picture of it running is on my PC upstairs but working on these things is no different to working on a regular desktop, everything is just smaller and a lot more fiddly. Since that picture i've stripped the screen out of it's case, it's amazingly thin. |

Nope this is what I spend my life trying to get across to people LOL. See the chip halfway up with the blue thermal pad and the four black chips around it. That is a laptops graphics. Soldered to the board never to be removed. It's still very rare to get a laptop with modular graphics. I think google should hotlink this on it's main blank page hehehe, it would save a million people asking the same question on every forum around the globe. |
