dualcore temp ?

Have a question I have a 4600x2 overclocked to 2.7mhz 225fsb Mult of 12 and the volts to get there is at 1.49 in the bios. In prime 95 it passes all test and the highest temp was 42c on one core and the other reached 53c idle both cores sit at 33c. are the cores susposed to be that different between each other? Plus is that temp of 53 and volts safe for everyday use? I'm new to this dual core so can somebody shed some light on this for me and let me know if im in the safe zones.

You need to run two instances of Prime95 to tax both cores. Here's an example of how two shortcuts for that could look:
"C:\Program Files\Prime95 x64\PRIME95.EXE" -a0
"C:\Program Files\Prime95 x64\PRIME95.EXE" -a1

The voltage is alright, but lets see how much higher the temperature gets when loading both cores. If it runs stable then you could try taking back the voltage a notch, to lower resulting temperature.

Or you can get Orthos: Download Stress Prime 2004 BETA
It's simple to use - just run it, choose test and hit the Start button - it automatically runs two Prime95 (or GROMACS) threads to test both cores.

Core 0 reached 50c and Core 1 reached 58c thats only 5 minutes running without errors. When i play a game it doesnt even come close to those temps thou. What do you think of that 58c temp is that to high?

This time i ran 20 minutes and core 0 reached a steady 51c and core 1 reached a steady 58c is a temp of 58c safe i could take off the heat sink and reply the paste again why does each core have a different temp reading?

For what I've seen it's unusual for the difference between the core temps to be so significant, but on the other hand AMD has specified that there is a fairly wide margin of error between the two tempeature diodes on a X2 CPU. So one might show a little higher and the other a bit lower than the real temperature. I wouldn't worry about those temperatures, but try cleaning and reapplying paste if you feel like taking the time. Actual usage like playing games won't stress the CPU quite as heavily as running Prime95 either.
