Very Carefully

....but on a serious note, starting out slow and component by component OC. Also do 1 setting at a time, when ya first start out never do everything at once because then you will never know what you did wrong or how to change it without goin back to square 1.

You will need quite a bit of software to test stuff.... but to start ya out heres a list ya can google and get.

Speedfan
CoreTemp (possibly)
Orthos
Possibly pick up a copy of the Ultimate Boot CD
Super PI Mod
CPU-Z

If you need further help getting links to this stuff just post and I can get them for ya.

Some guides I looked over with the general ides

http://www.ocia.net/articles/overclo...de/page1.shtml

http://www.hothardware.com/forum/mes...&enterthread=y

http://www.thetechzone.com/articles/...ng/index.shtml

Im sure any other specific questions you have reguarding settings/temperatures or any other aspect of overclocking can be answered here if ya just ask.

Also please dont use windows based overclocking programs at all. You will save yourself alot of hassle by not using them. Only people that are deeper into OCing do anything that would apply a windows based OC, but for the sake of simplicity I wont mention it here.

Google would be a good place to start, but tidbits like "Don't use Windows based overclocking programs" are universally true with the exception of video cards

This forum is more for specific questions like ChaosMinionX said... guides and general stuff can always be found on Google

ok, ill be sure to use more specific questions from now on. Thank you for the list of programs, and guides. i downloaded cpu-z and also speedfan. Now i understand the basic concept of it. But now i have a new question. I rebooted my computer and hit delete to go to my bios. I found the place were i enter the frequency i want my cpu to run at, but i dont know what number to put inot it. It says i should pick a number 100-250, but that is a very broad instruction, any particular number i should try first?

I've never had an AMD chip and its different with an Intel like mine. But I believe you should begin my lowering the multiplier first so that you can find the highest stable FSB.

You really need to google. I've seen a ton of AMD specific guides with a wealth of information to help you along the way. Always increase by small steps only. Whatever you do make sure to monitor your temps and to do stability tests at every stage. If the temps start getting high you'll have to improve your cooling before increasing speeds...

Here is the first AMD comprehensive guide I just googled to a minute ago.

No its not, both cores OC the same as a result of changing bios settings.

im afraid so. if you cant get into the bios while starting, you need to pull out the jumper, wait 30 seconds-1 minute, and put it back in...

ill post a link to a thread of mine, which tells alot. dont mind the pictures though, thats just from my mobo. but it has some good pointers/link.
just make sure you have enough info before you do really any overclocking. it took me 2 full days before i got it stable and up and running with alot of fiddling/testing around. read some guides and finding the max of things (cpu, memory) will help alot.

H3X4D3C1M4L will become famous soon enoughH3X4D3C1M4L will become famous soon enough

Just a note: Unless you've gotten really lucky or done a body modification, the Thoroughbred A/B cores are not multiplier unlocked (and being a 2200+ it would be either the TB A or the TB B)
